TIF President Participated in Global Transport Connectivity Forum
H.E. Baghdad Amreyev, President of the Turkic Investment Fund (TIF), attended the Global Transport Connectivity Forum held in Istanbul from 27 to 29 June 2025. The forum, which was organized by the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure of the Republic of Türkiye, brought together participants from 70 countries, including heads of state, ministers, senior policymakers, and representatives of international institutions.
H.E. Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, President of the Republic of Türkiye, addressed the opening ceremony on 27 June. He underlined Türkiye’s role as a regional transport hub and emphasized the need for resilient infrastructure and coordinated transport policies. He also highlighted Türkiye’s ongoing transport infrastructure investments. President Erdoğan pointed to the strategic value of the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route (Middle Corridor) in reducing transit times and supporting sustainable trade flows.
H.E. Abdulkadir Uraloğlu, Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure of the Republic of Türkiye, stating that transport connectivity is critical for regional cooperation, underlined the importance of integrating east-west and north-south corridors. Minister Uraloğlu noted that Türkiye directly connects to 21 countries through the Middle Corridor and stressed the need for digital reforms and investment coordination across the corridor.
H.E. Baghdad Amreyev, President of TIF, attended the opening session and spoke at the panel titled “Financing a Seamless and Continuous Trans-Caspian East-West-Middle Corridor” on 28 June. In his remarks, Baghdad Amreyev stated that the Middle Corridor is evolving into a central trade route, with regional governments increasing investment in transport and logistics infrastructure. He emphasized that these national efforts must be integrated into regional coordination and broader international cooperation to ensure the route becomes a more stable and competitive option for global cross-border trade.
Highlighting the strategic directions of TIF, Baghdad Amreyev noted that supporting economic integration and connectivity of Turkic states is regarded as a core objective of the Fund. He said that in the coming years, the TIF will focus on co-financing opportunities and promoting partnerships with both public and private actors to contribute to the regional connectivity efforts. The President of TIF noted that the Fund can support soft connectivity measures over the Middle Corridor at the earlier stages and hopes to be able, in the long term, to contribute to hard infrastructure projects.
On the sidelines of the forum, the President of the Turkic Investment Fund held bilateral meetings with several government officials, representatives of international organizations and financial institutions, and private sector leaders. These included Azerbaijan’s Minister of Transport, H.E. Rashad Nabiyev, Uzbekistan’s Deputy Minister of Transport, H.E. Jasurbek Choriev, World Bank Regional Director for Infrastructure in Europe and Central Asia, Mr. Charles J. Cormier, TRACECA Secretary General H.E. Aset Asaubayev, and President of Pacific Holding, Mr. Nusret Dur, among others.
