TIF President Participated in Extraordinary Meeting of TCCI in Astana

On 11 September 2026, H.E. Baghdad Amreyev, President of the Turkic Investment Fund (TIF), participated in the Extraordinary Meeting of the Heads of the Union of Turkic Chambers of Commerce and Industry (TCCI), held in Astana, Kazakhstan.

In addition to the President of TIF, the meeting brought together Mr. Kanat Sharlapayev, Chairman of TCCI and Chairman of the Presidium of the National Chamber of Entrepreneurs of Kazakhstan "Atameken", Mr. Mahmut Gürcan, Deputy Minister of Trade of Türkiye, Mr. Assan Darbayev, Vice-Minister of National Economy of Kazakhstan, Mr. Merey Mukazhan, Deputy Secretary General of the Organization of Turkic States, Mr. Adem Kula, TCCI Secretary General, and heads and representatives of the national chambers of commerce and industry of the Turkic countries. Mr. Rifat Hisarcıklıoğlu, Honorary President of TCCI and President of the Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Türkiye (TOBB), addressed the meeting through a video message.

The meeting reviewed earlier TCCI decisions, institutional matters, cooperation with TIF, and new initiatives in trade and business cooperation.

Addressing the meeting, H.E. Baghdad Amreyev emphasized the importance of continued efforts to deepen the economic integration of the Turkic countries. He noted that both TCCI and TIF were established to give practical economic substance to closer cooperation among the Turkic states. He called for more cross-border investment and stronger production and trade links, with projects that connect companies and markets across the TIF Member States.

B. Amreyev also addressed the TCCI agenda item on the formation of a common investment portfolio together with TIF. He said the portfolio should focus on serious regional and cross-border projects, rather than become a collection of separate national project lists. He made clear that every project considered by TIF would remain subject to the Fund's normal appraisal and approval procedures.

Mr. Adem Kula, Secretary General of TCCI, briefed participants on recent institutional developments and pending issues related to strengthening TCCI. He also updated participants on plans to establish new TCCI committees and on preparations for upcoming activities and events.

The wider discussion examined economic relations among the Turkic countries and practical steps to strengthen business cooperation. Participants discussed removing barriers faced by companies, improving transport connectivity and logistics, and making greater use of the Middle Corridor. They also exchanged views on access to new markets and the use of modern digital tools in e-commerce, including the Karavan project.

Representatives of the national chambers called for closer, project-based cooperation between TIF and TCCI and expressed strong interest in submitting investment projects to the Fund for consideration.
