TIF President Attends ADB Annual Meeting in Samarkand

On 4 May 2026, H.E. Baghdad Amreyev, President of the Turkic Investment Fund, took part in the Opening Session of the 59th Annual Meeting of the Board of Governors of the Asian Development Bank in Samarkand, Uzbekistan. The meeting is being held from 3 to 6 May under the theme “Crossroads of Progress: Advancing the Region’s Connected Future.”

The high-level gathering brought together senior government officials, ADB leadership, representatives of international financial institutions, banking and private sector leaders, as well as academia and civil society.

In his opening remarks, H.E. Shavkat Mirziyoyev, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, welcomed participants and highlighted the country’s ongoing reform agenda, recent development achievements, and key priorities in cooperation with ADB. He noted that the total value of completed and ongoing joint projects with ADB has reached nearly $16 billion.

President of ADB, H.E. Masato Kanda, officially opened the meeting, calling on countries across Asia and the Pacific to “act together to develop together” by strengthening cross-border connectivity. His address emphasized the importance of collective resilience, regional integration, energy systems, supply chains, and digital infrastructure, as well as closer cooperation amid growing global uncertainty.

During his visit to Uzbekistan, Baghdad Amreyev also held a series of bilateral meetings with senior officials of the Government of Uzbekistan, ADB leadership, and representatives of partner development institutions.
