TIF President Attended OPEC Fund Development Forum in Vienna

On 23 June 2026, H.E. Baghdad Amreyev, President and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Turkic Investment Fund (TIF), participated in the OPEC Fund Development Forum 2026 and the Golden Jubilee Gala Dinner held in Vienna.

The Forum marked the 50th anniversary of the OPEC Fund and was held under the theme “A Transition that Empowers Our Tomorrow.” The opening session featured a video address by H.E. Alexander Van der Bellen, President of the Republic of Austria. The event brought together heads of state, ministers, leaders of development finance institutions, and private sector representatives to discuss key global development priorities, including development finance, resilience, infrastructure, trade, digital transformation, and partnership building.

H.E. Baghdad Amreyev took part in the Forum as the Turkic Investment Fund continues to strengthen its cooperation with the OPEC Fund. His participation followed his visit to the OPEC Fund Headquarters in April 2026 and recent exchanges between the two institutions aimed at identifying areas for enhanced collaboration.

During the Forum, President of TIF B. Amreyev attended the opening and closing sessions, as well as thematic panel discussions relevant to TIF’s mandate, including local value chains, infrastructure connectivity, energy and water systems, digital partnerships, and financing mechanisms for countries facing economic and climate-related challenges.

On the margins of the Forum, H.E. Baghdad Amreyev held bilateral meetings with senior officials, including H.E. Dr. Abdulhamid Alkhalifa, President of the OPEC Fund; H.E. Dr. Muhammad Sulaiman Al Jasser, Chairman of the Islamic Development Bank Group; H.E. Mohammed A. Aljadaan, Minister of Finance of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia; H.E. Qahhorzoda Faiziddin, Minister of Finance of Tajikistan; and H.E. Rahimberdi Jepbarov, Chairman of the Board of the State Bank for Foreign Economic Affairs of Turkmenistan, as well as other ministers of economy and finance from IsDB member countries. The discussions focused on potential cooperation frameworks, co-financing opportunities, and strengthening institutional partnerships.

President of TIF Amreyev and the President of the Islamic Development Bank Muhammad Jaser agreed to further strengthen existing cooperation mechanisms and expand the implementation of joint projects in the coming period.

H.E. Amreyev congratulated the President of the OPEC Fund H.E. Abdülhamit al Khalifa on its 50th anniversary. The sides expressed their gratification over ongoing constructive dialogue between the two institutions, reaffirming their commitment to finalizing a cooperation agreement between the Turkic Investment Fund and the OPEC Fund for Development in the near future.

The meetings with government representatives of IsDB member states focused on developing mutually beneficial cooperation between the Turkic Investment Fund and relevant countries.
