TIF General Director Met with Director of the Azerbaijan Renewable Energy Agency

During TIF's institutional visit to Baku, General Director Mr. Ramil Babayev met with Mr. Javid Abdullayev, Director, and Ms. Rena Humbatova, Deputy Director of the Azerbaijan Renewable Energy Agency (AREA), the state regulatory body operating under the Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

The TIF delegation was accompanied by Mr. Sanjar Usmanov, Chief Investment Officer, and Mr. Shabdan Tagaev, Debt Finance Manager.

The discussion covered AREA's mandate and its role as the primary institutional architect of Azerbaijan's green transition. As the sovereign enabling body, AREA is responsible for streamlining investment frameworks, mapping and securing land allocations for dedicated renewable energy zones, and coordinating complex regulatory approvals.

Mr. Babayev briefed the AREA delegation on TIF's mandate, financing instruments, and its commitment to supporting sustainable infrastructure and renewable energy projects across TIF Member States. He noted TIF's strong interest in mobilizing capital and co-investing alongside experienced institutional partners to advance commercially viable green energy opportunities in the region.

Mr. Abdullayev presented AREA's ongoing activities and strategic priorities, highlighting the agency's track record of collaboration with international financial institutions and its central role in advancing Azerbaijan's broader green energy agenda.

The parties noted strong alignment between their institutional objectives and agreed to maintain close dialogue to explore concrete opportunities for cooperation in support of green energy development across the Turkic world.
