TIF and Azerbaijan Central Bank meeting in Baku

On 17 June 2026, on the sidelines of the Annual Meetings of the Islamic Development Bank Group in Baku, H.E. Baghdad Amreyev, President and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Turkic Investment Fund (TIF, the Fund), held a meeting with Mr. Aliyar Mammadyarov, First Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

The President of TIF was joined by Mr. Ramil Babayev, General Director, Ms. Betül Sarıkaya, Chief Financial Officer, Mr. Zsolt Csanádi, Chief Legal and Operations Officer, Mr. Mehmet Esat Mert, Director for International Relations, Capital Mobilization and Treasury, and other representatives of the Fund. Mr. Mammadyarov was joined by Mr. Azer Alasgarov, Director of the Monetary Policy Department.

The meeting focused on developing relations between TIF and Azerbaijan’s financial sector, capital market development, local currency financing, and potential areas for future cooperation.

H.E. Baghdad Amreyev briefed Mr. Mammadyarov on TIF’s current institutional and operational work. He noted that the Fund is strengthening its contacts with Member States, national authorities, banks, and partner financial institutions as it prepares for future investment work. He further noted the importance of supporting the financial sector development of the Member States.

Mr. Aliyar Mammadyarov briefed the TIF delegation on the Central Bank’s activities, Azerbaijan’s regulatory framework, and the financial sector reforms underway in the country. He welcomed TIF’s growing engagement with Azerbaijani financial institutions and referred to areas where the Central Bank of Azerbaijan and TIF may continue their dialogue.

Both sides agreed to maintain close communication and continue discussions at the technical level.
