Mr. Bagdad Amreyev 

Mr. Baghdad Amreyev is an eminent diplomat of Kazakhstan whose contributions have profoundly impacted international relations, particularly within the Turkic world. He was instrumental in establishing the Organization of Turkic States (OTS), the Turkic Investment Fund, and the Union of Turkic Chambers of Commerce and Industry.

Serving as the Secretary General of OTS from 2018 to 2022, Mr. Amreyev was pivotal in advancing political relations and encouraging strategic economic partnerships among Turkic nations, significantly enhancing their collective influence on the global stage. He coordinated the preparation and adoption of the Turkic World Vision 2040—an essential document for shaping the future of the Turkic World.

He held significant diplomatic positions, including Ambassador to Saudi Arabia (1996-2002), Egypt (2002-2008), Türkiye (2008-2011), and Iran (2011-2018). Additionally, Mr. Amreyev served as Kazakhstan’s non-resident ambassador to dozens of countries in the Middle East, Africa, and the Balkans. He was also the permanent representative of Kazakhstan to the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) and the Islamic World Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ISESCO).

His diplomatic achievements have earned him numerous state honors, including from Azerbaijan, Hungary, Kazakhstan, and Türkiye.

Mr. Amreyev has authored several books on international relations and regional politics, including “Relations between Kazakhstan and Türkiye in the Modern History and the Turkic World (2011),” “East and West: A Call for Globalization (2011),” Challenges of Globalization (2007),” Arabian Monarchies and their Place in Kazakhstan’s Foreign Policy Priorities (2004),” and “Kazakhstan and Saudi Arabia: From Restoring Historical Ties to Political Partnership, 1992-2002 (2003).

Mr. Baghdad Amreyev was appointed on 11 November 2022 as the President of the Turkic Investment Fund by the Council of Heads of State of the Organization of Turkic States. He is fluent in multiple languages, including English, Turkish, Arabic, Persian, Kazakh, Russian and Tajik.
